Active Studio Monitor 6-2 XBD PMC
Made to Order
Powerful, full-range monitoring system with superior clarity and resolution
By adding a PMC8-2 SUB unit to a PMC6-2 monitor, you can easily reconfigure them as PMC's renowned and flexible XBD monitor system in its two-cabinet format.
This system combines the unparalleled clarity and resolution of the PMC6-2 with an active subwoofer to form a seamlessly integrated full-range monitoring system ideal for high-quality music production.
In the case of the PMC6-2, configuring it as an effort.
Setting up the PMC6-2 XBD system is simple: connect the input directly to the PMC6-2 and add an AES3 digital cable to transmit the signal from the main monitor to the PMC8-2 SUB. The two enclosures can be connected to a LAN network or directly to each other via their network ports. By selecting the dedicated "XBD" mode, the DSP seamlessly combines both units into a single, larger-scale display. Additional detailed settings can be made via the rear panel controls or using the intuitive SoundAlign™ browser-based software via LAN connection, where both speakers appear as a single PMC6-2 XBD unit when connected.
PMC's SoundAlign software
The SoundAlign web interface is a highly intuitive and responsive means of controlling and configuring our active near-field and mid-field DSP monitors (and the two associated subwoofers). Each monitor speaker incorporates an internal web server accessible via a standard wired Ethernet connection using any typical web browser on a smartphone, tablet, PC or Mac.
Speakers can be controlled individually or in defined groups of multiple speakers (up to 16), and all DSP menu functions and parameters can be viewed and adjusted, with configuration settings stored and recalled instantly as presets or copied between the speakers. Facilities are provided for setting input format and level, boundary mode correction, delay and polarity options, plus an EQ section with interactive graphical display offering five parametric bands and high and low shelf sections.
The SoundAlign interface also makes it very simple to upload new firmware to all selected speakers when necessary, and a group filter mode allows defined subsets of speakers to be displayed and controlled completely separately from other groups - a Brilliant feature in complex multi-room installations or with multi-channel speaker arrays.
A dedicated network is not required - the speakers can be connected to any standard LAN as SoundAlign data coexists seamlessly with network traffic (no Internet access required). Alternatively, individual speakers can be configured by connecting a standard Ethernet cable directly to a PC or Mac's Ethernet port, or using the controls on the rear panel.
Advanced Transmission Line Technology (ATL) delivers cleaner, deeper bass
Delivers deeper bass and greater output in smaller cabinets, delivering rich, full sound at any listening level. And because the ATL's bass extension doesn't vary with volume levels, low frequencies are well-defined and always balanced, even when listening at low volume.
Mitigates problematic frequencies and eliminates duct noise that can mask the midrange in other types of monitor speaker designs. As a result, you'll find it easier to position, for example, vocals and solo instruments in a mix, allowing you to achieve an ideal balance that translates to the world outside your studio.
Laminair aerodynamic ventilation for superior performance
PMC's Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) moves air at high speed, generating different pressures. Reducing resistance, increasing efficiency and eliminating air noise are important aspects of improving performance. PMC's Laminair ventilation achieves this goal by utilizing aerodynamic principles borrowed from the high-performance engineering of F1 and Le Mans race cars, creating a smooth laminar flow at the driveline exit. The combination of ATL and Laminair technology results in superior bass timing and an ultra-wide dynamic range, which helps PMC speakers deliver extremely natural sound and perform with complete composure at any volume.
